The Clinch River Cabin is surrounded by natural forests and mountains, which are protected by the state of Tennessee. The Museum of Appalachia and Norris Lake are only minutes away, and charming antique shops are nestled on the surrounding back-country roads.

The Setting
The valley through which the river flows is a beautiful, pastoral setting of wooded ridges, limestone escarpments, and pastures. The banks are lined with huge sycamores and silver maples. Spring and late summer wildflower blooms are spectacular. The river valley supports a rich mix of birds and mammals. In summer, the angler will have the opportunity to observe active blue heron rookeries and have an excellent chance to see a family of river otters. Ospreys nest along the river, and the Clinch supports a significant population of beaver and wood ducks.

Norris lake is considered the cleanest lake in East Tennessee- perfect for boating, fishing, and swimming. The mountain bike trail network along the shores of Norris Lake are also considered some of the best in the Southeast, and one can also enjoy hiking, horseback riding, and bird watching throughout the area. Fly fishing is the flagship experience at the Cabin because the Clinch River is one of the top tailwater destinations in the country. In addition to overnight accommodations, Appleview River Resort sponsors day trips to the Clinch Cabin for those who want to experience this pastoral setting during daylight but be back at the resort in the evening. The drive is approximately 30 miles west of the resort grounds. Guests can cycle or mountain bike, fly fish on the Clinch River, or explore the Appalachian Museum and local antique markets.
