Smoky Mountain Springfest denotes the start of spring in the Smoky Mountains of east Tennessee. The nearly three-month long celebration features special events, parades and activities of all types, from Rod Runs to Bar-B-Que. Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tennessee Springfest 2014 is scheduled for March 19th through June 8th.
Here are just some of the events taking place during the 2014 Springfest:
The 20th annual Mountain Quiltfest brings together quilters from around the country. Over 60 quilting classes will be offered, plus there will be quilts on display and contests to compete for $20,000 in cash and prizes.
Experience cultures from all around the globe with music, food, art, and dance during the Festival of Nations. Over 25 countries will be represented and each day Dollywood’s One World Celebration unites all Festival of Nations’ visiting performers in a musical and colorful bash throughout Showstreet.
Classic cars from across the nation come together in Pigeon Forge for show and competition. Everything from classic Fords to Chevy’s to GMC’s and many more will be on display.
Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage: April 15-19
This annual five-day event takes place in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Events include a variety of wildflower, fauna, and natural history walks/hikes, motorcades, photo tours, art classes, and several informative indoor seminars.
An annual tradition in Pigeon Forge, the Dolly Parade features the one and only Dolly Parton as she pays tribute to her hometown. Serving as the Grand Marshal of the parade, thousands of people line the Pigeon Forge Parkway to see this living legend. (HELPFUL HINT: Arrive the day before to avoid the traffic!)
Bloomin’ BBQ and Bluegrass: May 16-17
The 10th Annual Bloomin’ Barbeque and Bluegrass Festival combines delicious food and unique, down-home entertainment. Come for the delicious barbeque – stay for the great entertainment!
