Cades Cove is one the most popular locations in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a must on any visit to the Smokies, with wonderful wildlife viewing and spectacular mountain vistas and historic structures throughout the loop road. May 15th, 2014 visitors to Cades Cove will have a chance to see this incredible area with a new perspective, by moon light! Guides from the National Park Service are offering a FREE 2 mile tour of Cades Cove under the stars.
The Cades Cove Full Moon 2 Mile Walk will be held on May 15th, 2014 and the guided tour will begin at 8:00 pm EST and should be completed by 10:00 p.m. Guests should meet at the Orientation Shelter at the entrance to the Cades Cove Loop Road. Be sure to check the weather forecast because the Full Moon Walk will be cancelled if there is hazardous weather. A brilliant full moon will light up the night sky and let you see Cades Cove in a whole new light! Knowledgeable guides will take you on an easy 2 mile hike through some of the Cove’s most scenic areas.
Be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp, wear comfortable shoes and don’t forget to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. Please note that all children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
